You're invited: Sinew, a 30 min online performance - this Tuesday, Youtube Live

August 16, 2026

There is tissue in sinew connecting a body in pain with a body coming out of it. There is an animal, the desert and an invitation to enter the wild lands within - yours, mine, ours. There are odes to moments without shame or blame. Also, dance, song, shayari-poetry and me!

Sinew, a 30 minute online performance is on Tuesday, August 18 at 11:11 am US mountain time (check your time here).

Dear friends, you are invited!

Here’s the YouTube live stream link. All you gotta do is click and watch :-)

I'll also share an ode-dance-song to Aziz Balouch, a South Asian musician who went from India to Spain in the 1950s and sang flamenco his own way. He released only four tracks on one album "Sufi Hispano Pakistani." Read his amazing story here. I’m so mad about his music that I made a video afuera dancing to it - more on that soon.

There are days where the bigness of the world is reduced to just one flick in a fiber of muscle that moves where it gotta move to love who it gotta love. That’s where I am right now, rehearsing, where I’ll be Tuesday too, where I hope to keep living from….a place of sense and also non-sense.

That being said, this week I also made massive to do lists with every single thing I want and need to do and just started laughing at the piles of paper.

This too is sinew space! seeing the distance between big dreams and what is needed to simplify the journey - to do and undo! And this journey is what I am especially looking forward to exploring in the WILD LANDS creativity circle in September. more here.

but first - now - the tiniest to do is the smallest next step.

Sinew on Tuesday. only that. Come with your tea or coffee, first or second breakfast, wine or tapas.

(I will not say samosa out loud because then I will have to go and get one, right this minute!)

(ps: a recording will be available at the same link for a day after the performance. Feel free to email me afterwards with your impressions,)

here’s to to you, to us, to sense and non sense and the chaos of of piles of paper showing you the light.

in solidarity

August 18, 2026 In an audio recording - recorded on a cassette no less on a walkman with a record button [remember those], my mother asks my grandmother. "What were your favorite subjects in school? " "Poetry and singing," my grandmother replied. They spoke in English but I heard the Gujurati roots in the voice of my grandmother, or Kutchi more like it, for that is where was from originally, the Rann of Kutch a vast expanse I have never seen. Today is her birthday and on occasion of her...

August 8, 2026 Dear friends: Ooh something new. It was taking time to show its shape but now, here it is. enter the wild lands There's a place in the body where no one is welcome except your own voice. A sovereign space. A rogue state that has ceded from the union - so long, uncle sam! A space where no one is welcome, not even angels bearing chocolate or spirit animals. "Please leave your spirit animals at the door." The walls of this place are made of 118 elements from the periodic table...
